Bears in Berlin, lions in Venice and rabbits in Kaufbeuren − the filmzeit trophy Blasi reminds of a chocolate rabbit, but is made of solid metal. It is awarded annually to the jury prize winner in Kaufbeuren and − NEW − to the prize winner of filmzeitinternational in Kempten. The trophy is named after the Holy St. Blasius, who is a versatile patron saint and is said to protect against throat diseases, the plague, but also against hurtful words. Perhaps he also protects against other dangers with pandemic extent.
Just as solid and genuine as the Blasi is the festival's claim to offer exciting cinema for the head, heart and belly.
* The organiser is still looking for sponsors for some awards.
